Production Paradise

Here is your February edition of Showcase Spain, featuring news, views and imagery from some of the finest visual media companies currently at work in Spain. The full Production Paradise directory - now with 'search' and 'save' features - is at www.productionparadise.com.

Barcelona seems always to have some visual media event running and true to form, Docs Barcelona 2007 the International Documentary Film Festival, is now on until Sunday, featuring documentary screenings and a pitching forum for raising finance.

In Madrid, SIMM International Fashion Week runs 16-18 February and Escena Contemporanea 2007 is on until 25 February, featuring theatre, music, performance and dance (website in Spanish only).

Augusto de Fraga is having much success in Portugal: he recently finished shooting a commercial there for Vodafone and is now preparing to shoot several commercials for Portuguese beer, Sagres.

Matteo Bonifazio, who joined RCR team last November, is about to start shooting a commercial in Uruguay for Nestlé Ice-cream with a well-known celebrity. Watch this space...

TV & Print Production company Toma 78 is at full steam with a variety of projects that it says will shortly be on air or in print.

The company has just finished working with Sprint USA, Fruit of the Loom USA, Ford Connect, Multi Opticas, Women'secret, and the Long Tall Sally womenswear catalogue.

They work nationally and internationally and will be sharing some of their latest work in the next edition of Showcase. This edition, they bring us the Antón Veneta TV commercial, which was shot for JWT by Filmmaster with the support of Toma 78 in Barcelona.

Photographer David Ruiz recently completed a fashion shoot for America's Next Top Model with Tyra Banks and SeaSun Productions.

He also featured in Punto H magazine with a special editorial for the Bread&Butter edition.

Currently, David is collaborating with advertising company Shackleton in Barcelona, as well as finishing up a number of advertising jobs.

Amparo and Flor were the stars of the Telva editorial shot at the SS&M agency. Toni Bernad's job was to show what stylists do from the moment a model is chosen until the final shoot.

Dutch-born Michelle Westgeest appears in Edelweiss Magazine, seen through the lens of photographer Mark Gysyn. Michelle was chosen as the model for the front cover - it seems that blonde is definitely back!

Tobias Brahmst, the face of many well-known firms last season, has been chosen by Valentín Vallhonrat to model the latest trends in GQ.

This season's face of Zara Cosmetics is Marianna, a green-eyed, dark-haired Brazilian and a regular from Barcelona fashion week/catwalk.

In 2006, Tenerife Film Commission supported feature films 'Óscar, el color del destino', by Lucas Fernández, and 'El vuelo del Guirre', by Teodoro Ríos. The Commission also supported six shorts; international prizewinner 'Nasija', directed by Guillermo Ríos; 32 photographic reportages; Women's Secret (USA), Japanese magazine Brutus, 'Waschbär', Nestea, BASF, as well as 29 other advertising productions.
