Welcome to the February issue of SHOWCASE HAMBURG - brought to you by Production Paradise.

Cinefest II, the International Festival of German Film Heritage, will take place in in Hamburg, Metropolis-Kino, on November 12–20. This year's theme is Babylon, describing the era when sound first came to European cinema. The countries' cinemas that were once unified by the silent screen were thus divided by the introduction of spoken languages. Apart from exploring new and forgotten areas of film history, the festival will provide a prominent showcase for archives that preserve and restore the treasures of German Cinema.

Our Hamburg Photo of the Month was shot by Carsten Witte. Models: Vivien (Body & Soul), David Penn (Modelwerk), Svetlana (E-Models), Terrence (Modelwerk), Robert (Body & Soul). Hair and Make Up: Giovanni Rivas (Close Up). Styling: Sanjay Potphode.

ham hotel/hotels: SIDE HOTEL

Side is Hamburg's first and only 5-star design hotel in the city centre.
Built by architect Jan Stoermer, designed by Matteo Thun and illuminated by Robert Wilson, space and light are perfectly assimilated. These factors essentially shape the heart of the hotel and make the Side a sensual location. The 168 rooms, which although in different categories, all share a minimalist style that is welcoming and comfortable, with a personal touch. The ten “flying” suites on the 10th and 11th floors are all decked out in white. Further highlights are the lounge and the rooftop terrace on the 8th floor, which offer an impressive view over the port and the Alster lake. Both are perfect venues for summer parties, events or photo shoots.
On the ground floor, the Fusion bar and restaurant serve as meeting places for hotel guests as well as visitors. Colourblocking is a key theme in the Side Spa, which is refreshingly colourful and luxuriously furnished.
